  • GENERAL INFORMATION

    Dr. T. Joan Robinson, Dean of the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences, serves as the Program Director for the RCMI Program (Research Center for Minority Institutions) at Morgan State University. In the past, she has served as Professor and Chairperson of Biology at Morgan State University; Associate Professor of Pharmacology at Xavier University of Louisiana; and Assistant Professor of Biology at North Carolina A&T State University.

    Dr. Robinson received her Ph.D. in Endocrinology/Biology at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She pursued two years of postdoctoral studies at the Mayo Clinic with Dr. Robert Ryan in the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Biology and one year of postdoctoral studies at the Laboratory of Chemistry at NIADDK, NIH with Dr. Stoney Simmons. Subsequent to this training, she taught and conducted extramural funded research at North Carolina A&T State University where she has trained one postdoctoral fellow and five master's students. Within the last ten years, Dr. Robinson has published over 20 publications in refereed journals and has presented at several scientific meetings both nationally and internationally.

    Throughout her academic career, Dr. Robinson has received several grant awards (RIMI; MBRS; NSF; and K.14 awards). She was awarded the Outstanding Chairperson Award at Morgan State University and the Outstanding Award in Grantsmanship at Morgan State University. Currently, Dr. Robinson serves as President of the Program Directors' Organization for the RIMI Program and the NIGMS/MBRS Subcommittee. To date, Dr. Robinson is a member of the American Society for Cell Biology, the FASEB, Society for In Vitro Biology; and AAAS. She also is the co-editor of the International Journal of Cellular and Molecular Biology and was recently elected into the International Who's Who of Professionals.
